FAQ
Which kind of milk is the best to use to make a good cappuccino?
- We recommend using milk with 2 – 3.25 % fresh from fridge.
Can I use mineral water in the Saeco espresso machines?
- Yes, still mineral water is fine but do not use sparkling water. Lower is the level of residues of calcium in the water, less limestone will be created in the circuits of your espresso machine.
Which kind of coffee is the best for the machine?
- We recommend using a mixed Arabica – Robusta blend.
How do I reset the descaling signal?
- Consult the user manual for the instructions on how to reset the descaling signal after descaling.
- The procedure varies from model to model. On some machines, the descaling signal resets automatically after the machine has been descaled and rinsed
How do I get a more consistent coffee quality?
To get a consistent coffee quality, here are some tips:
The Saeco Adapting System will help to make the right coffee for you. After 10-15 times, the machine automatically sets the coffee dose (quantity of beans to be ground).
Adjust the grinding level until you find the right level for the type of coffee you are using and get coffee at the right strength.
- Try different coffee blends. Use fresh and non-greasy coffee beans for the best performance. We recommend using a mixed Arabica-Robusta blend.
- Check if the SBS valve dial on the dispenser head has been turned all the way to the right. If it is not, turn the dial to the right for creamier coffee.
Why does coffee come out at the sides of the dispenser?
- Check that the holes in the dispenser head are not obstructed. If they are, clean them with a pin.
- In machines that can work with pre-ground coffee, brew a cup of pre-ground coffee without putting in any ground coffee. If water comes out, the coffee beans may be the problem. In that case, we recommend re-adjusting the machine to the most suitable grinding level for the kind of coffee you want and/or to switch to a mixed Arabica-Robusta blend.
- Remove the dispenser from the machine (if possible) and rinse it carefully according to the instructions in the user manual.
Here are some tips to brew hotter coffee:
- Check if the water heater is working properly: draw off some water from the steam tube. If the water comes out hot, the water heater is functioning properly. If the water is cold, take the machine to the service center
- Check the temperature of the cups. Cold cups will very quickly lower the temperature of the coffee. Try warming cups with some hot water and/or steam or by keeping them on the cup warming plate (if present)
- Pre-heat the water circuit and filter by first dispensing one cup of coffee without putting in any coffee, so by dispensing only hot water. After that, start brewing coffee.
Descaling is recommended to ensure a long life and the correct functioning of the machine and its components. Buy a Saeco descaler at a service center and follow the instructions in the user manual to descale the machine.
Only use the Saeco descaler that has been specially developed for your machine. This descaler is safe for all parts of your machine and ensures that the machine continues to function properly.
Do not use vinegar or lemon juice or other detergents. Only use the Saeco descaler that has been specially developed for your machine.
Descale your machine every 3 months or when the machine indicates that descaling is required. The machine automatically controls the distribution of the descaling solution.
Don't leave the machine unattended during descaling.
Before you start the descaling cycle, make sure that:
The Intenza water filter has been removedA container of adequate size or a couple of containers has/have been placed at the points indicated in the user manual.
How to descale:
Prepare the descaling solution according to the instructions on the package: pour the descaling solution into the water tank. Then fill up the water tank with fresh water up to the max level. After you have added the descaling solution to the water tank, the descaling cycle runs automatically.Dispose of the descaling solution according to the manufacturer's instructions and/ or the regulations in force in your country.
Please note that the descaling and/or rinsing cycles cannot be stopped. Wait until the cycles have completed.
If the machine is switched off during a descaling or rinsing cycle or if a power failure occurs during a cycle, the cycle that was interrupted will have to be performed from the start as soon as the machine switches on/is switched on again.

It allows to significantly lowering the cost of the machine while keeping professional quality of brewing. The brewing unit is capable of making lots of servings and can be easily removed from the machine for washing. Other brands have a more complicated non-removable brewing device, which complicates operating the machine and makes repairs more costly.
The main advantage of Saeco espresso machines is the CREMA - unique patented engineering design of coffee chamber. The chamber is equipped with a special valve that allows keeping working pressure in the chamber while brewing coffee. Extra "pressing" of ground coffee is not needed. As a result, valuable substances are maximally extracted from coffee, and what goes into the cup is flavorful aromatic beverage with thick and stable coffee foam.
Other advantage of Saeco espresso machines is exceptional portability together with high performance and reliability. The whole process of brewing, from dropping ground coffee into coffee chamber to ready-to-drink espresso, takes about 1 minute.

If the on/off switch of the machine is set to ON, but the machine does not respond when the buttons are pressed, the boiler will probably be overheated.
When the boiler overheats, the internal safety device is triggered. The internal safety device can only be reset by a qualified service center. Pleas return the appliance to your dealer.
To prevent reoccurrence:
- Fill the water tank with water
- Select the 'coffee' function and open the steam spout. After dispensing one glass of hot water, the water circuit has been refilled.
